What we keep, where it lives, who sees it and how you delete it. Written for a parent, not a lawyer.

Last updated: 6 September 2026

This app is used by children. That obliges us to more care than if it were for adults, and it's right that it does. Below is everything, with nothing hidden in a footnote.

The short version, if you're busy

Who is responsible for this data

Team Fam is built and run from a household in Romania. The data controller, in the language of the regulation, is the person behind the app, and the address you write to about anything to do with data is contact@teamfam.app.

We answer data requests within 30 days, as the regulation requires. In practice, much sooner — we aren't a corporation with a form.

What we keep, precisely

About you, the parent

About the children

About the kids' screen

We don't ask for or store photos. We don't ask for your location. We don't read your address book, contacts or other apps — nor could we: Team Fam is a web page, with no access to your phone or tablet beyond what you see in it.

Why we're allowed to keep it

Because you, as a parent, asked us to keep this record for your family — in the language of the regulation, performance of the contract between us. Without the data above the app would simply have nothing to show.

Children don't create accounts and don't give us their own data. You enter it, you decide what goes in there, and you can delete it at any time. In Romania a child under 16 cannot consent to online services on their own — which is why the app is built so that consent comes from the parent, not from the child.

A child is still a person, not a row in a table. If one of your children wants to know what's written about them, or wants something deleted, help them — it's their right, even if the request comes through you.

Where the data lives and who else touches it

We use three services, each for a specific reason:

Supabase — the database and the accounts

This is where your family's data actually sits, on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Supabase hosts it; it doesn't use it for anything else.

Netlify — hosting the pages

It serves the app's pages. Like any web server, it briefly keeps technical logs that include IP addresses. We add no tracking code — there is no Google Analytics, no Facebook, nothing of the sort.

Open-Meteo — the weather on the kids' screen

To show the temperature, the screen asks a weather service. It sends the coordinates of the city you chose in settings — the city, not the screen's position — and nothing else about your family. If you don't want even that, it's enough to leave the screen off; the weather is never requested from the parent's phone.

Nobody else. We don't sell the data, we don't rent it, we don't give it to advertising agencies and we don't train artificial-intelligence models on it.

How it's guarded

Each family is isolated from the others at the database level, not by code that could get it wrong. Even if someone asked for more than they should, the database returns nothing from another family.

The kids' screen doesn't have your password. It has a badge that lets it tick, and that's all. It can't change tasks, prices or settings, it can't see your email and it can't delete anything. If the screen goes missing, you switch it off from your phone and it becomes useless on the spot.

Points can't be faked. The children's app never sends a number of points — it only sends “I ticked this”. What it's worth is decided by the server, from the price you set.

What the device keeps, locally

A few things stay on the device and never reach us: the session key (so you aren't signed out), a copy of the lists so the app works without internet, the chosen text size and the theme the child picked. They all disappear if you sign out or clear the site's data in your browser.

We use no tracking cookies. That's why you don't see that “accept all” banner — we have nothing to ask you about.

How long we keep it

As long as you have the account. When you delete the family, everything goes: the children, the tasks, the ticks, the points, the calendar events, the parent accounts and the screens' badges. We keep no copy “for statistics”.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. That's why we ask you to type the family's name to confirm it — it can't happen by accident, with one finger.

Your rights

If something goes wrong

If the data ever ended up where it shouldn't, we'll tell you by email within 72 hours of finding out, tell you exactly what was affected and what you need to do. No corporate-speak.

If we change anything here

The date at the top changes with the page. If something important changes — what we keep, who we give it to — we'll tell you by email beforehand, not afterwards.
